1. It means that the picture needs to have a good amount of lighting if there is too little it will be under exposed and really dark and if it’s too bright it will be overexposed and really washed out. If you are moving around a lot the picture will be out of focus and blurry so you want a focused picture you want to keep the camera steady.

 top left-undexposed
top right- overexposed
bottom left- out of focus
bottom right- well done

2.a) the little mountains mean landscape mode which automatically focuses on as much of the photo as possible because it is not a photo of one particular thing
b)the face means portrait mode and it auto focuses on the main thing and nothing else
c)the auto means automatic mode and it basically does everything for you so it uses the correct exposure and focuses for you
d)the P means program mode and it is like auto but if it gives you a little more control over things like flash

Elements Of Composition

Elements of Composition

During this portfolio I learned a lot about the different functions on the camera and how they can help you and also work against you. I enjoyed the whole thing but I especially liked finding the perfect picture or the perfect angle because it is satisfying when you take a really good looking photo.
The most difficult part was figuring out how to work all of the functions on the camera because sometimes they would give me a picture that I didn't like so I would have to figure out how to fix it. My strongest photo would be the contrast one because it has nice bright colours and also shows the contrast between the orange sun and the blue sky. My weakest photo would be the colour one because it is not really exciting. There is not much interesting about it so I would call it the weakest. If I had extra time I would search for better pictures for each of the elements because some of them are not as good as I hoped so I would want to find pictures that are perfect examples of each element.

Elements of Composition

Leading lines:
A leading line is any line that creates a natural path down the picture such as standing in the middle of a road and taking a picture that goes straight out in front of you.

Repetition/Patterns:
Repetition is when a size, shape, or colour is shown several times over. It can be close up or far away. For example you could take a close up of someones finger tip to see the patterns in their fingerprint or you could take a distance shot of the side of a building to see the pattern that the evenly spaced windows create.
Ex.

Texture:
Texture is when you can very clearly see how the focus of the picture would feel. They are often close up pictures so as to see more detail like if you were to take a close up picture of a fish you would see the texture of its scales quite clearly.
